Jubilee Youth Programs

The Jubilee Youth Program at Our Savior was developed in response to the needs of our community. With the high cost of living in Chinatown, and the moderate wages received by Chinese immigrants who speak little or no English, both parents need to work long hours, and multiple families are forced to live together in one apartment.

The goal of the Jubilee Youth Programs at Church of Our Savior is to provide quality educational programs to enable the children of our community to assimilate successfully into American living. Helping our children understand the meaning and importance of education will enable them to develop a vision for their lives as well as improve our future society.

Our Ministry offers the following services:

Jubilee After School Program - we provide pickup from local schools and assist children with their homework, enabling parents to work a full day. The cost of this program is $2.30 per hour; $140 per month.

Saturday Enrichment Program - For students who excel in their academic studies, we offer enrichment classes on Saturdays in language arts, math, drama, drawing, to enhance learning and cultivate creativity.

Summer Camp - Every summer, we receive 150 - 200 children at our Summer Camp. Our staff members are certified teachers, our curriculum is progressive and kid-friendly. Our field trips are designed to help children explore and experience the wonders of New York.

Girl Scouts - We believe the teachings of the Girl Scouts Council of Greater New York provides excellent life lessons to the girls of this community. We have one of the largest troops in lower Manhattan; one of two troops in Chinatown. We meet on Saturday afternoons.

Jubilee Youth Chorale - Established in 1994, our Chorale has toured nationally and internationally (Austria, Praque, Southwest Brazil). We've sung at the Washington Cathedral in D.C, Carnegie Hall in New York, and St. Paul's Chapel in New York. We've participated in a Disney film, a PBS documentary, a audio recording of choral groups nationwide, and a commercial for YMCA. We've fundraised for the American Cancer Society, St. Margaret's Nursing Home, and we give a free concert for Senior Citizens every Christmas. We invite you to join us.
